This is a “Hidden” word clue. If you read it carefully you will be able to spot “bish OP AL ways..” has got “OPAL” hiding in it. The word “Protects” is the Indicator that it is a hidden word clue.

    Short brazen means ( reduce one letter of BRAZEN) wild means rearrange it. animal is the clue
    ZEBRA is the answer
