Arjun Mukherjee who posted “windbags” was close but no cigar. Vaidehi posted “Clutches” and got it wrong. Better luck with the next question Arjun and Vaidehi.

The Clue was “Spooner would say tie together old women’s purses (8)”. The Answer was “HANDBAGS”. This is a “Spoonerism” clue, which is one of the rarer clue types seen in crosswords. Here,  you need to interchange the first syllables (like Spooner would) of  “BAND” which means “tie together” and HAGS (Gulp, for “old women”) to get HAND BAGS.

The definition is  “purses” which is a direct synonym. Once again, well done to each of you who not only solved it but also annotated it correctly in our blog post. Now, Can you solve THIS clue?

Can you solve this clue? If you got the answer, leave a comment in the blog. If you wish to know more about our book, please check out https://www.1across.org/book/cc2/ or BUY IT NOW at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XVRYYXT
