On International Women’s Day 2023, 1ACross is happy to present “The Family Woman”, a special puzzle put together by Qrypt On Y X and me along with several talented cruciverbalists from across the globe.

Women are the crux of every family and this grid is dedicated to every such woman who juggles multiple roles while striding forward taking her family together – As you solve the grid, please take the opportunity to appreciate the women in your family and the countless things they do for you..(Go on…get her some flowers)

Answers can be submitted by anyone who wishes to participate, on or before EOD 17th Mar. 2023. All those who submit entries have a chance to enter our new leader board for 2023. Annotations for the puzzle will be posted in the blog on Saturday, Mar. 18th, 2023. If you enjoy our puzzles, you would also like our puzzle collections that have been published worldwide.

Santha: I’m a crossword fan. Trying to solve the same from various newspapers. I love solving rather than setting. I’m very happy to be a small contributor to The Women’s Day special crossword.

Cherie: Cherie lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is happily retired and currently trying to revive her bridge skills.    

Rhiannon: Rhiannon lives in Canberra, Australia, with family and an elderly dog. She enjoys word games, cryptic crossword clues, music (singing, playing brass and some other wind instruments), and works as a programmer.

Sowmya (Founder of 1Across.org conceptualized / created this grid). Sowmya is the puzzle editor at Amuselabs, compiler Hypatia for “The Hindu” and has independently published Cryptic Crossroads 1, 2 and 3.

She is also the recipient of two Guinness Awards for Crochet.

Heidi (Admin of 1Across): Retired speech therapist. Current activities include catering to two cats, hula dancing and word wrangling.

Sabitha: Sabitha Satchi is a writer, art curator, and cultural critic. She lives a nomadic life. Cryptic crosswords and poetry anchor her in her travels.

Amrita – Hi, I am from India, currently residing in Bangkok. Cryptic crosswords are very special to me and I love solving and setting grids. Delighted that I have been able to contribute to this very special women’s day grid.

Aashwina: Techie on an almost sabbatical from work but not puzzles and crosswords. Need my fix of the Guardian and THE HINDU puzzles daily!

Supriya: I’m Supriya Mithal. Have recently moved to Noida (Delhi NCR). I work for a Gurgaon based NGO that is involved in the education of children from under- privileged backgrounds. I love reading, solving and setting cryptic crosswords.
