Stats – We had a great response to the grid with 45 submissions, 4 more than last time. It was the first time we were rolling out a new interactive format for the grids, thanks to our resident genius Viresh’s Exolve software. I had also used this opportunity to design a new submission form and make the process smoother. A big thanks to Viresh and very happy that it was received positively from the solvers and for the feedback that most of you had an improved experience while trying the challenge.

Our changes now allow to score the submissions at a greater level of detail and identify all the errors in the grid submission. We have hence been able to revise our scoring and ranking based on the total number errors, allotting 100 points to those who have submitted with no errors and reducing points based on the number of errors in the submission.

Of those who submitted, 31 had managed to complete the grid with zero errors but due to 7 people missing out points in the bonus questions, only 24 got the full score of 100.

Here’s the completed grid.

The solvers had to answer the following questions after solving the grid:

(1) The title leads you to this theme entry (8,3)
(2) The sub-title leads you to this theme entry (5,2,5)?
(3) Identify five themed entries

The correct answers are

(1) BREAKING BAD (an anagram of Baking Bread)
(2) HOUSE OF CARDS (an anagram of Oh do surfaces)
(3) The theme was names of TV Shows. The themed entries were Two and Half Men, Rear Window, Ramayan, Stranger things, The Crown, Outlander, Noel, Hideaway, Narcos, Feral, Revolution and Presence

42 out of 45 respondents got the first two correct and most mistakes were made in question 3.

You can access the Grid with solutions Here – Clicking Reveal ALL with show you the solutions and Annotations.

The first entry was submitted by Narayan Mandyam but it was not an all-correct entry. The first all-correct entry was received from Venkatraghavan Sahasranaman while the last all-correct entry was submitted by Lakshmi Prakash.

Congrats to the 24 awesome people who managed to max the score.

Here is the scorecard (sorted by total and then in Alphabetical order)

Grid Rating: The puzzle got a  good score of 8.3 and got 9 perfect 10s.

Top 3 Clues:  The most favorite clues were “Rear Window” and “Opinion” which got 11 votes each and “Two and a Half Men” which got 10 votes. My personal favorite “Ramayan” just missed top 3, getting only 9 votes (Darn! I should’ve voted)

Hope you enjoyed this fun puzzle as much as we did. Thanks to “Pixie Dust” for the wholesome entertainment. Great job in bringing the theme live, not only with 12 themed entries but also in several clue surfaces.
