Update by Sowmya – 26th April 2017

Thanks to all of you who have participated and submitted entries. The word seems to have been quite challenging and we only received 25 entries in all from 18 setters. Only 7 setters used their full quota of 2 clues while the remaining participated with one clue each.

Chanagrams which combine anagrams with charades were the most popular clue type. There were 10 of these and another 5 were anagrams. Other clue types were few and far apart.

The full list of clues has been sent to our game host Vinit for shortlisting. I have made a couple of changes in this edition of the contest.

Firstly, I have requested Vinit to allot scores for each clue across three dimensions viz, 1. Definition 2. Wordplay 3. Other aspects (incl. originality etc). For each aspect a score of 0 (Min.) to 5 (Max.) can be awarded. If this is successful, we could consider using this more objective method to arrive at the shortlists, in future contests as well.

Secondly, given the limit of two clues max. per setter, our earlier restriction of 10 unique setters in the shortlist is being relaxed.

Please feel free to let us know your views as well, so those can be incorporated in future editions of the contest, wherever practicable.

Congratulations to Vinit for winning 1ACCWC 132 !

His choice of the word to be clued today is DYSLEXIA (8)
