Update by Sowmya -1st January 2017 – We had a decent response for the contest. A total of 67 clues were set by 25 setters, which was substantially higher than the previous contest.

Here is the list of clues received for this game

10 of these were shortlisted by our host Kaustav Datta. While the identity of setters were not revealed to him, he provided us with a waitlist of ten clues, so that we could substitute readily incase the shortlist had more than one clue by any setter – and this, we did.

The clues that made to the final shortlist were

Setter Clue
Ajeesh Detailed approach to Quantum Mechanics
Chatur Vasi A theatrical performance
Ramki Krishnan Essentially, aerobic exercise helping in running
Sowmya Ramkumar Alternative bottles are recycled for use
Ganesh Nayak Egg protein synthesis involving a process
Heidi Schroeder Daughter retired from drug supply business
Manish Misra Talk about exercise and running
Vinod Raman Working a rope into knots
SSv Avtaar Musical show converted into a business
Venkatraghavan S. Blue Star, for example, open to air conditioning

Only 25 respondents cast votes for this contest, still a low number and only slightly better than 23 for the previous contest.  11 clues that did not make it to the shortlist, received at least one vote each from the respondents. Here are the results of our poll..

Chatur Vasi’s theatrical performance, Sowmya’s recycled bottles, Heidi’s retired daughter and Manish’s talk about exercise were all tied for the second place with 9 votes each.

However it was Vinod’s clever knots that worked itself to the first place with 17 votes, making it a clear winner.

Congrats Vinod. Your clue is now in our WCWC Hall of Fame. This is Vinod’s tenth clue to enter our Hall of fame!

A big thanks to Kaustav for taking on the tough job of host with a neat word as well as all those who participated and voted.

  1. Nice word to clue. But that also meant there were too many options that one didn’t feel satisfied with one clue and had to keep on trying to outdo that.
