Here are the results

26 clues and 25 voters. A few of the setters did not vote, unfortunately.

Revenge / avenge, Fight back, get back, counter etc were the common definitions used.

Tied at 4th place with 18 points, two clues which used exactly the same def, and the same topical theme

2nd place with 25 points is Kalyan Bandyopadhyay’s terse statement
After setback, I had to counterattack

And the winner is 30 points is @LowdownCryptic with a lovely surface story
