Thanks to all of you who participated. Here are the solutions and annotations..

Puzzle 1:

The spanner words FLOWERPOT, CATHERINE WHEEL, ROCKET, BOMB, LAMP, SWEET, OIL, BATH and LIGHT are all Deepavali themed words.

Puzzle 2:

Thanks to (O)racle for this Triple Dhamaka. Hope you enjoyed this very entertaining and challenging puzzle. Hats off to The Oracle (Kishore) who managed to pull off yet another fascinating challenge for all of us.

    Simple words for clues , yet a bit of a brain teaser. I had to use a Notepad to solve and then to enter into the spiral. Lightened and lit up my deepavali days, cracking these clues without cracklers but with sparklers ! Thanks , Kishore.
