No – all puzzles in the Brighton (UK) magazines are set by 1Across.org setters. On this site you can currently see entries by 1Across members in our Gridfest competition for our third anniversary. Today’s would be particularly hard for a newbie because it requires a knowledge of members posting names.

However, may I recommend that you either download (via Google) or get the paperback version of Cryptic Crossroads (via Amazon) with a wonderful selection of puzzles by members. You’d also be helping cancer research. With crosswords from our members scattered round the globe it’s truly the first of its kind. Incidentally one of the crosswords is by Hasslethymi – the setter, whose crossword prompted your enquiry.
